And the winner is . . .

speckled bush cricket / Joanne Hedger

A wonderful macro of a speckled bush-cricket by Joanne Hedger was selected as the overall winner of Sussex Wildlife Trust’s 2010 photography competition. Twelve winners were picked in total and these will all feature in a calendar for your computer desktop to celebrate the Trust’s 50th anniversary in 2011.

The judges job was a hard one – all agreed that the standard of entries was very high this year with a wide range of photographic styles and subjects. Congratulations to the winners and thank you to everyone who entered this year’s competition.

The calendar will be available as a free download from Sussex Wildlife Trust’s website in December.

If you like taking photos of Sussex wildlife and wild places we would love to see them in our Flickr group.

The winner Joanne’s photo is stunning, and so are the other photos picked – bit surprising to see two photos by Phil Avery and two photos by Chas Spradbery? If the standard was so high overall why not give 2 other people a chance instead of having more than one photo by the same person!?

    • I’m glad you liked the winning images.

To keep the judging process fair no information (such as who took the image) was passed on to the judges, so that images were judged on their own merit. As entrants were able to enter up to three images each it is possible to have multiple entries by the same photographer in the final twelve.
