Only one month to go until the closing date of Sussex Wildlife Trust’s 2012 photography competition!
We have had some brilliant entries so far as you can see from the slideshow below. There is still time to add your images. Our theme for this years competition is Window on Wildlife; capturing Sussex wildlife and the wild places where it lives. It can be anything you could theoretically see from a window – at home, at your office, out of a car or train.

Top Five Wildlife Photography Tips
- Find your subject
Do you homework to where and when you can see wildlife to photograph. - Get close to your subject
But remember not to scare your subject, wildlife is always more important than a photo! - Keep it steady
Don’t let camera shake ruin your shot. Rest the camera on a beanbag, wall or use a tripod. - Composition and framing
Think about why you’re taking your photo. Use the ‘Rule of Thirds’ and don’t be afraid to experiment - Light fantastic
The best light for photographs is early morning or evening, luckily this is often when wildlife is most active too!
Bonus tips if photographing through a window!
- Clean the windows
- Get the camera’s lens up close to the window
- Turn off the flash
