    Walk - Everybody Welcome

Meet in time for a 9.45 departure at the Partridge in Singleton (Explorer Map 120: SU 877132). Singleton is on the A 286, south of Midhurst. The Partridge is visible from the A286 but you need to drive down one of the small roads into the village to enter the car park from the front of the pub. Please park in the overflow car park, through the main pub car park to the edge of the pub garden.

To help with the lunchtime catering, orders for lunch will be taken prior to starting the walk. The landlord has kindly agreed to open from 9:30 so we can do this, use the toilet facilities and have coffee if we want.

Our three mile morning walk will explore Levin Down, a Sussex Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve and SSSI. Levin Down is a superb example of chalk grassland and scrub and we hope to see a variety of flowers and butterflies, as well as tremendous views. We return to the Partridge for lunch around 12.30.

After lunch we will drive just over a mile south from Singleton to the car park at St Roche’s Hill (Explorer Map 120: SU 872110). From here we will make the gentle climb to the top of The Trundle, the site of an Iron Age hill fort, a high point with fantastic views. This afternoon walk is just over a mile.

You are welcome to do both walks or just one of the morning or afternoon walks if you wish.

Walk led by Lin and Ross (Tel: 0208 8942276 or 07900 697411 on the day of the walk).
