    Walk - Everyone Welcome

Meet in time for a 9.45 departure at the car park of The Fox goes Free, Charlton (Explorer Map 120: SU 890130). The village of Charlton can be found by travelling north from Chichester on the A286 and turning right at Singleton: Charlton is about one mile along this narrow road. The landlord has kindly agreed that we can use the toilet facilities at the pub before we leave: orders for lunch will be taken ahead of setting off.
The morning walk of about three and a half miles includes the two attractive downland villages of Charlton and Singleton, Lady Wood and the southern part of Sussex Wildlife Trust’s special reserve at Levin Down.
We plan to get back to the pub before 13.00 and aim to set out for the afternoon walk of about two and a half miles before 14.30. We will be exploring the eastern side of the Levin Down reserve.
We should see a wide variety of flowers (including pyramid and common spotted orchids), birds (including buzzards and hopefully red kite) and butterflies (including various skippers, green hairstreak and marbled white). The downland views will be superb (weather permitting).
There is the opportunity to do both walks or just the morning or the afternoon walk. Walk led by Ro and Terry (Tel: 01798 813206 or 07720 891880 on the day of the walk).
