West Dean Woods - Free Open Day

Your chance to take a closer look at the work Sussex Wildlife Trust does at West Dean Estate and to meet some of the volunteers, staff and wildlife - as access to this important Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) is usually restricted. This working woodland reserve is important for its butterflies, moths, plants, mammals and birds and there should be a wonderful display of spring flowers, especially in the recently coppiced areas where the spring butterflies and birds will be on the wing.

There will be a number of guided walks around the reserve, and opportunities to see some of the traditional skills associated with coppicing, such as pole lathing and hurdle making.

As parking is extremely limited at the reserve, a complimentary minibus service will run from West Dean Gardens car park, situated nearby on the A286.

Entry is free and there is no need to book.

For further information, please contact Mark Monk-Terry on 01273 497542
