    Beach Reserve Circular Walk - 2 miles - Rye Harbour

    Take the opportunity to have a closer look at some of our winter visitors, including waterfowl, waders and hopefully the odd raptor. Bring a packed lunch.

    Meet at Rye Harbour car park.

    No booking necessary. Donations appreciated.

    Saturday 12 09:45

    Walk - Everybody Welcome - Blow the Post Christmas Cobwebs Away

    Park on the road next to the Plough, Pyecombe*, BN45 7FN (please do not use the pub car park) in good time for a 09:45 departure (Explorer Map 122: TQ 292124). Before setting off, we will choose our lunch time meals, and leave the orders at the pub but note that the Plough will not be open at that time.

    On the five mile morning walk we will visit Chattri (the Indian War memorial on the South Downs) using the South Downs Way and the Sussex Border Path. The views should be breathtaking.

    We aim to return to the Plough for lunch about 13:00 and this means that the morning walk will be a relatively leisurely one.

    In the afternoon we will relocate by car to the car park of the Jack and Jill windmills and have a short walk there (not much more than a mile) once again enjoying the great views (weather permitting!)

    The format lends itself very well for someone to do either just the morning walk or the afternoon walk or both.

    * Directions to the Plough.

    If travelling south on the A23, turn off towards Pyecombe (just after the A281 from Henfield joins the road). Then turn right onto the old A23, travelling parallel to the new A23 for a short way. The Plough will be on the left.

    If travelling north on the A23, it much simpler to take the turning off the A23 towards Henfield (A281), and turn right at the first roundabout (just after the petrol station), and rejoin the A23 travelling south. Now follow the instructions above (for travelling south).

    Walk lead by Sarah (Tel 01252 514163 or 07720 891880 on the day.
