MAKING WAVES PROJECT OFFICER (X 2)

Sussex Post Location - Seven Sisters Country Park, East Sussex
Hampshire Post Location - Curdridge, near Botley, Hampshire

Salary - £23,462 per annum (salary award pending in April)
Full/Part - Full time
Hours - 35.00 hours per week
Days to be worked - Monday to Friday (regular weekend working required)
Contract Type - 3 year Fixed Term Contract

The Project
The Making Waves project is a partnership between Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust and Sussex Wildlife Trust, funded by Heritage Lottery Fund, to deliver a three-year awareness and outreach project focusing on marine natural heritage. The project will provide a co-ordinated regional marine learning programme, with the aim to engage local communities with marine conservation.

The Roles
We are looking for two full-time Making Waves Project Officers who will work together to develop and deliver a co-ordinated learning programme across East and West Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The Sussex officer will lead on working with schools such as Outreach visits and a teacher training programme, while the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Officer will lead on developing community engagement, for example, a public events programme. Both Officers will be employed by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust but the Sussex Officer will be managed and based in Sussex.

It is essential that applicants have experience of recruiting and working with volunteers and running public events. A sound knowledge and understanding of marine conservation issues and the ability to enthuse and engage audiences on the subject will be required. Successful applicants will need to demonstrate good organisational and communication skills as well as the ability to build partnerships and deal with a variety of contacts.
