In the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009, the Government committed to the creation of a network of Marine Protected Areas in our seas. Now we’re asking that the Government keeps to its word.

Our petition is calling for Marine Protected Areas that:

• are in the right places, based on nature conservation needs
  
• support recovery from past decline, not simply maintain the current state
  
• are managed well, with adequate regulation and controls
