After two years of not being seen water wails are back at Woods Mill nature reserve. The cold weather has brought these usually shy and secretive birds out into the open, where they can be seen feeding in some of the sunnier, unfrozen parts of the top stream. Video by Neil Fletcher Bittern in the snow at Rye Harbour nature reserve. In the last ten years bitterns have regularly wintered at Rye, the numbers varying from one to six. Starling time in Brighton. Between November and February thousands of starlings flock and the piers as they prepare to roost. This is a wonderful autumn wildlife spectacle.
