GILLHAM WOOD

A small but characterful oak woodland surviving within an area of modern housing

guelder rose by David Plummer
Gillham Wood is a little oasis of woodland set among the residential area to the west of Bexhill-on-Sea, between Little Common and Cooden Beach and regarded as a valuable treasure by local residents.

What you can see

Oak, guelder rose, parasitic bolete and other fungus, and woodland birds

Getting around

The easiest access is from Withyham Road which runs along the southern boundary. There is a small lay-by here for parking. The reserve is quite flat, and there are no gates or stiles..
